Volunteers have always been the heart and soul of The Storehouse, and have kept us in business.

We need help sorting clothes and food, stocking shelves and racks, helping our customers shop for groceries, loading cars, security, cleaning and working at events benefiting The Storehouse. It is very rewarding to know you are helping someone in need.

A volunteer couponer's own words:

My name is Lisa Blueyes and I love a good coupon.  I've been an avid couponer my whole life.  As a child my grandmother taught me how to read unit prices and to combine coupons with sales in order to get the best deals.  This skill has come in handy over the years, enabling me to save significant amounts on my weekly grocery bills and allowing me to put that money to use elsewhere.

Like many people, I watch TLC's 'Extreme Couponing' and while I've dabbled in the extreme area, my lack of desire to build adn maintian a stockpile has tended to keep me form getting too extreme with my couponing.  However, there were many times when I looked through my coupon inserts and thought, "I bet I could get that for almost nothing. Too bad we don't use it."

Then one day it occurred to me that while I wasn't willing to devote a whole room towards a stockpile and had no use for seventy bottles of mustard, there is a place that had both storage space and a need for all kinds of food, a place where I could put my skills to good use; The Storehouse.

Extreme Couponing for The Storehouse is satisfying at many levels.  There is, of course, the thrill of the hunt and catch that all couponers have and of course I'm able to substantially increase my total donations though couponing.  But I've found that the hand-on aspect of contributing, the time I put into clipping sorting, and palnning renders the whole experience much more personal and meaningful than I expected.  I've only enjoyed extreme couponing for The Storehouse, and I hope my fellow couponers will consider joining me!
